Declan gibbon from the Galway Office reports that on Sunday last The Commerical Boat Club in Woodquay hosted their Last Cast Competition in which eighteen anglers participated weighing in seven trout for nineteen and a half pounds. All catches were in the lower lake area. First place went to Stephen Greaney & Harold O Toole with one trout weighing 4.35lbs. Second place went to Nicholas Hanley & Robbie Pittmann with one trout weighing 4.20Lbs .
In the Cornamona area on Thursday last Peter Walsh, Kevin Cronin & Marcella Senior had good sport dapping grasshoppers and daddies landing a few fish with one fish over three pounds.
In the Oughterard area Kevin Molloy reports of reasonable fishing in the area on Sedge patterns and on Dabblers.
On Monday last he guided French anglers who had three trout for their efforts fly fishing with the best fish being three pounds.
On Tuesday last Kevin boated a German and French angler and had three trout for their half days trolling and on Thursday Kevin boated the same French group he guided on Monday and landed three trout on the fly with the best fish being two and a half pounds.
Larry McCarthy reports from Corrib View Lodge Glencorrib of a reasonable angling returns for the week with quiet a number of large trout caught on small dry sedge patterns.
Larry fished on Monday last and landed five trout in the Greenfields area with two fish over three pounds in size. On Tuesday a group of four anglers from Cork caught four trout two on dry sedges and two on wet fly
with the fish averaging two pounds. Chris Paris from Derry caught three trout over two days two of which were three pounds plus. Frank Reilly guiding out of Corrib View Lodge returned ten trout over three days.
