4/10/17 Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong SW wind blowing down the Lake as anglers pondered on their next move and I can tell you it didn’t take them long to come to the conclusion that the Bar was the order of the day. Wind as already stated. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 14.3c.
5/10/17 Not a lot to report and one can say it was all quiet on the SW front in the fly department and if there were any rod benders it was kept undercover, at least the angler or anglers didn’t have to take cover because their was bright sunshine all day with a light wind from West. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 0.2mm. Maximum air temperature 15.0c.
6/10/17 All the headlines come from the North Shore and the Oxford Utd supporters Fishing Club and for good reason while fishing in the hired out boat department of Waterville boats of [email protected] Oxford fan Dan, caught a cracker of a 6 lbs. 4ozs Brown Trout drifting off Church Island, while fishing with his favourite Gillie and fellow Oxford Utd Fan Mr. Michael O’Sullivan and just for the record this cracker of a Fish was netted by Mr. Timothy McKibbin also a fellow Oxford Utd fan. Now we go to the Brown Trout measurement department, Oxford’s Fan Dan’s Brown Trout was 25 inches long, Girth 14 inch and Dan’s flie of the day was a size 12 Silver Invicta and took 25 minutes to conquer this fine fish.When asked about the wind the Oxford Utd 3 replied that’s your department. Yesterdays Weather amount of rainfall 0.6mm. Maximum air temperature 15.0c.
7/10/17 For starters sorry for the delay, but there was one great 60th wedding anniversary party in the Butler Arms Hotel this evening, for Mr. and Mrs. Brod O’Sullivan of Stella Maris Waterville and as we all know Brod is one great Gillie and I can tell you his good Wife Mary ran one Mighty Bed and Breakfast right up until the day they both retired and going by last Night I don’t know why they did because they were both in flying form in the speech department and they both danced the night away. Now we go back a few hours for today’s fishing action and straight to the C&R department, Mr. Andy Price, while fly-fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestley had a cracker of a day with 6 Six Sea Trout of which the biggest was 5 lbs. followed by 5 Brown Trout.
8/10/17 Lough Currane was on the calm side all day, so as you can imagine my Noble Anglers couldn’t manipulate their flies to a standard that would entice a wild Game Fish. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 1.6 mm. Maximum air temperature 14.4c.
9/10/17 Waterville Fishery was all quiet on the SW front. Wind W fresh with good cloud cover. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 14.5c and just for the record the total amount of rainfall for September was 204.4mm
10/10/17 I start on the sad News that Mr. Jamie O’Carroll RIP a prominent Member of the Derrynane Inshore Rescue, sadly past away on Sunday. Beloved partner of Elaine, much loved father of Ben and Hannah, beloved son of Kate and the late Johnny. Brother of Edward and Claire. Sadly missed by his family and the O’Carroll and O’Shea families, neighbours and friends and on behalf of the Waterville Fishery and all Anglers of Kerry we also send our condolences to Elaine, Ben and Hannah and all their family and fiends. 11/10/17 Again I start with Sad News. Lough Currane has lost another great angler to the Heavenly Waters, Mr. Mick Quilligan RIP sadly past away peacefully yesterday and on behalf of the Waterville Fishery and the good people of Kerry and Cork, we send our Deepest Sympathy to his good Wife Marie and much loved father of Christina (Newman), Denis and Michael. Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends. 12/10/17 Well its that’s time of year again as the curtain comes down on the 2017 Salmon and Sea Trout season and by all accounts my Noble anglers failed to register a strike on this last day and I can say without any fear of contradiction they failed miserably in their duties in all departments, so on that note, rock on 2018 Salmon and Sea Trout Season and keep the Waterville Fishery and Irish Flag flying high. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the team at the Inland fisheries Ireland and of www.fisheriesireland.ie for all their help this past season as they always do. On a personal note I would like to thank all the readers and anglers for sending photos and your own notes in. Last but not least a Big Thanks to Mr. Paul Burke, who writes for the Trout and Salmon magazine. I will finish by saying I look forward to reporting to you all in 2018 and may your lines be tight.
