Evan McGovern was on to tell us about his latest fishing adventure…
On Tuesday 3 July, 5 of us headed out of Clonakiltybay onboard Tigger skippered by Dave Edwards.  Blue shark was the target for the day.  A quick stop for bait along the way and off we went with a box full of mackerel and pollack.  We arrived at the shark grounds and were kept busy all day.  We ended up with 19 blue shark boated and a few dropped runs.

There seem to be no shortage of shark at the moment.  The largest was a lovely fish with a fork length of 175cm.  Edging closer and closer to that magic 185cm for the length based specimen.

Go fishing…

Tigger is a purpose built Procharter 31 angling boat, powered by a 330HP diesel engine and equipped with all necessary safety equipment. Reef and ground drift fishing is generally the most productive method with the potential to catch in excess of 20 species if you adapt your lures and baits accordingly. From mid June through to October it’s usually possible to target the blue shark fishing that is predominatly between 10-15 miles off the estuary.  All sharks are released and recent seasons have seen larger species such as mako and threshers being sighted more frequently.
