Well known angler, casting instructor and rod designer Eamonn Conway has been in contact to let us know that he had an outing on the River Boyne yesterday. Water levels are extremely low and clear at the moment and the best activity is either early or late but as usual Eamonn was able to entice some nice fish to his offerings despite the bright sunshine.
Eamonn reports that he was out and about yesterday on the Boyne fishing in the Navan area for trout and had a quite successful day, he hooked plenty of trout on nymphs and some on dries also. Eamonn advises that the trout seem to like the turbulent water as it offers better cover from the sun. Not much in the way of fly activity save a few sedges scurrying around in the shaded areas under the trees.
