Local anglers have prepared over 30 fishing swims on the White Hall stretch of the Grand Canal Tullamore for all to avail of.

This stretch was once rated in the top 10 in Europe for coarse fishing with bags of bream and tench to 50lb along with the occasional carp with a little work put in , it also has 2 disabled angling spots installed by the grand canal anglers coarse fishing club , it has recently got a tarmac road so access is easy .

Directions : coming up through the town travel over the Kilbeggan Bridge and take a sharp right and follow the road down alongside the canal then onto the tow path.

The cooler conditions have seen much improvement in the area.

Sunday 22nd of July the annual Jim Coyne memorial senior coarse fishing competition will be held on the Grand Canal Tullamore.

Check in at Whitehall stretch at 8.15am fishing 9am – 1pm . Entry €10 open to all.
