Sidney Kennedy reports on a great start to 2018 for him and his daughter Amy…
Amy wants to know and do everything when it comes to catching fish. Everything I do she wants to do. So when we got to the Lough last week her first job was to set up the rod pod [and she did like a pro] as I set up the rods. Then she watched me make PVA bags and put the boilies on the hair rig.
With the rods in the water and Amy sorting out the swingers we sat back under our bivvy. It took only 45 minutes before Amy’s alarm bleeped with a drop back and then it screamed as the swinger hit the rod. She lifted the rod and said “Fish on!”. [I started laughing]
It was a sluggish fight but when I saw the fish in the net, I knew it was specimen.

It only took 15 minutes more before my rod bent into a fish…

Just before daybreak, we had two runs about 30 seconds between them. These were two carp that weighed 7lb and 6lb 12oz
The temperatures was started to drop because of the heavy showers we were getting, so we decided to go home. It was a super short winter session, a one to remember.
