Paddy Halpin reports on salmon fishing from the Feale.
There were a few more fish landed this week on the Feale, with most on the fly as water levels suited flyfishing. We had a small fresh in the river on Wednesday, but not enough to bring out many anglers. At the moment the levels are dropping back again and it’s still very cold.
A few of the lucky anglers for the week: young Shane Loughnane of Listowel had his first of the season, a fish of 8lbs on a fly that he tied himself. Terry McCormac had his first of the season, a nice fish as well on he fly; Noel Kelly also got his season off to a great as well in the past week with a great fish of 12lbs, also on the flt. Also in luck for the week was Derry Buckley, who had a great fish as well on fly.
Water temperature at the moment is still pretty cold, under 10 degrees. Hopefully the bit of warmer weather forecast will see that improve.
