Dan O’Neill at the Mount Juliet Estate reports on the trout fishing on the Nore…
We had 3 anglers on the fishery on Saturday. Water level was good reading 89. ishing nymphs, the 3 rods landed 9 trout as well as a few salmon smolts, all quickly released again. Dan also fished the Pebble Beach Pool himself on Wednesday and had 5 trout, ranging from 0.5-0.75lbs, all on nymph patterns
With the smolts running its important do everything you can to get these guys off to sea in good shape, so fishing barbless makes sense until the run is over. It important to make sure you wet hour hands if you have handle them during the release as they are delicate little fellows and you want to avoid any scale loss.
