Both the Clare Dragoon and Lady Gwen II  have been getting some great fish off the coast of Clare in the last week,  aided in part by the beautiful weather.

Anglers on the Lady Gwen II have been getting a good mix of ling, codling, haddock, pouting, pollock, coalies, ballan wrasse, cuckoo wrasse and mackerel. The mackerel are out there in numbers but some days getting on the shoals is not so easy.

skate
A White Skate of around 40kg. Nice fish on a 12-20lb rod

Luke Aston’s anglers on the Clare Dragoon have fared much the same, but also added a few skate and their first tope of the year to the tally. The skate encountered were a little un-common. One was a white skate. A first for the Irish Angling Update since this blog was started.
