DiadES is an EU-funded project looking at the “ecological good and services” provided by diadromous fish species – those that spend part of their life cycle in freshwater and part at sea. IFI is a partner in the project t and we have a particular focus on the Twaite shad.

Back in mid-May we met and chatted with a number of anglers at St. Mullins during the shad run. Our aim was to canvass support in filling out an on-line survey monkey to harvest angler views and opinions in regard to your overall experience of the angling trip for the shad – the angling, the aesthetics, the cost……..

  • how is the fishing
  • is the peace-and-quiet important to you
  • what do you spend to be here
  • how long a journey do you have to get here

and so on. All of these things are important in developing a view of the overall “ecological goods and services” provided as the shad come into freshwater from the sea to spawn annually. These are some of the elements we in IFI are trying to capture in the DiadES project and your support by filling out the survey monkey will contribute to developing our knowledge.

The link to the survey can be accessed here:

The survey should last no longer than 10 minutes. Answers given will remain confidential and only anonymised and grouped data will be used in the analysis and reporting.

By taking part in this survey you are consenting to your data being used as part of this study. You have the right to withdraw from this survey or to request your data are removed from the project up until December 2019 by emailing your request to IFI. You do not have to answer any individual question if you do not wish to do so.
