Declan Gibbons reports that Corrib has been quiet of late, with just some Caenis fishing activity to report. Traditionally early July is quiet on the lake, with many trout zoned in on coarse fish fry and reluctant to take a fly. Watch this space, however, as the second mayfly hatch will get under way in the next couple of weeks, and often produces better fishing than May for those in the know.

Larry McCarthy of Corrib View Lodge www.corribangling.com reports  a slower week of angling activity over the last two weeks. The Caenis fishing is slowly coming to an end, but some good mornings were had. English visitors Bill Latham and Jon Perry enjoyed a great morning boated by Larry with 8 good trout to over 4lbs in weight.

Welsh angler Gareth Jones  had two early mornings for 15 trout . Over the last few days fly hatches are still very good but the rising water temperatures have slowed the amount of rising fish.
