Great fishing reported from Killala Bay. See Donal Kennedy’s report below…
Great fishing on Saturday 12th June when a party of anglers set out from Killala Harbour for a day’s fishing in Killala Bay. The winds were moderate south westerly. The first drift was over sandy ground and it was not long until one of the anglers hooked into a big ray only to loose it near the boat. As the drift continued more rays were caught along with dabs and lesser spotted dogfish.
The skipper moved out to deeper water and drifted over rocky ground where a great variety of fish were caught with many being returned alive to the water. The catches included pollack, ling, pouting, coalfish, ballan wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, spur dog along with plenty of mackerel . All returned to harbour well pleased with the day’s fishing.
