The Leinster Pike Anglers hit a river venue for the second leg of their winter league last weekend and with bad weather forecast, it looked like it was going to be a tough day on the banks. But the rain held off for most of the day which made for a more enjoyable day’s fishing. As often happens, the fishing was great for some and poor for others as some anglers returned blanks while others had bags in the 30’s and 40’s. Four doubles were caught on the day, three of which fell to one angler who fished a wobbled smelt.

Overall results as follows:

1st Anthony Lennon 8 fish 49lb’7oz
2nd Terry Collins 4 fish 39lb
3rd Rodney Gaynor 13 fish 38lb
Heaviest Fish – Mark Byrne 13lb’10oz
