Frank Maunsell reports from the Owenmore Fishery in Kerry where rain finally fell at the end of last week:
10 June: We finally got rain on the night of the 8th and into the early hours of the 9th. When I checked the water level at 5:30am there was about a rise of 2½ feet and by 1:00 pm it had dropped by a foot.
There were some fish met during the day but none landed. The bright sunshine did not help.
Today there was still enough water on it and one local man had 2 grilse and a couple of seatrout. It was tough fishing as the wind was reaching 10 metres a second.
