John O’Brien sent us this super photo of his son Ben O’Brien (8 years old) from Newtownforbes, Co Longford who hooked and landed a whopper of a pike on his first cast on the Rinn River over the weekend.
This lovely fish was safely landed and released carefully back into her territory. Unfortunately John and Ben had no measuring device to hand but they reckoned she was in the 13/14lbs range. What a pike to start your day with.
Ben was using his new Abu Vigilante rod and with a one hook rubber jig, it doesn’t get much lighter!
