The Monasterevin and Fisherstown Match Anglers have brought a new festival to the Irish angling scene, hosting a two-day pairs event for the first time last weekend. The festival attracted 30 anglers who fished various canal sections around the town. Fishing was a bit slower than expected, and anglers had to work hard for their fish, but there were some decent fish caught, including a fine bream of 4lb 6oz for Richie Keegan, which won the heaviest fish of the festival.

Fine bream for Richie Keegan
All agreed that it was a very enjoyable festival, and that it was great to have a new team event on the Irish calendar, especially one on the canals.
Top five finishers were:
1st – Conor Browne and Ritchie Keegan – 6 points
2nd- Peter Nolan and Aidan Devoy – 15 points
3rd – Bob Hulme and Nicky Harrison – 20 points
4th – Jim Delaney and Lee Hammond – 24 points
