We’ve had some lovely weather this week, and charter boat anglers have taken full advantage.
Last week skipper Luke Aston had a crew who were seeking big game – six-gill sharks to be precise. This was the first time targeting them since early June. Unfortunately on this occasion none were hooked, but Luke is certain they had an “enquiry” from one. The lads did enjoy their fishing though, with some nice fish off the bottom making up for the lack of big toothy critters.

Reef fishing has been very good, with lots of fish including plenty of pollack and coalfish. Some of the pollack were a very good size, and a few cod, ling and big spurs showed up to the party too.

A new group in saw Simon and his friends trying for shark on their first day. After interest from one blue, they headed inshore as the wind got up to the shelter of the estuary for a quieter afternoon. They had some nice mixed species at anchor, including a fairly rare spotted ray.

The weather settled again and the lads have enjoyed good reef fishing, with soft plastics really working well.

Go fishing…
