It’s been a slow week for fishing here in Ireland, so the latest episode of the Lure Fishing Podcast with Cormac Walsh crosses the Atlantic to hear from Galway native John Glynn who targets striped bass in the NYC metro area.

John, who loves to get target pike on the Suck and his home waters of east Galway when in Ireland, has been living and fishing in New York for decades. He gives a fascinating insight into fishing in the Urban New York waterways, including catching bass in waters at the end of the runway of JFK airport.

There is not only bass to be caught here but bluefish, false albacore and much more. John is one of the most knowledgeable anglers in that area and in this podcast he talks about tackle and tactics that he has honed over many years of experience, including some of his most productive lures.

So the next time you are heading to NYC, it might be worth bringing a rod and a bunch of lures.
