Just completed four short sessions during which I introduced returning young angler Gavin Fitzmaurice from Co Galway, who generally fishes for Pike in his home waters, to the delights of early season West Cork, Mullet fishing.
Despite the generally cold and windy weather, we managed to catch on three of the four days using feeder and surface floater tactics. Highlight of the trips was this specimen Thick Lipped Mullet which weighed in at 5lb 1oz and is now Gavin’s PB and the AAWC 2025 guided Mullet to beat! This super fish is also our Catch of the Week.
