Michael Murphy reports from the River Moy…

River Moy Angling Report for period 18-08-25 to 07-09-2025

Water levels in the Moy fluctuated greatly over this 3-week period with the early period seeing low water levels accompanied by elevated water temperatures causing some fisheries to remain closed. This was followed by a large flood which made angling unsuitable at times.  After the initial long period of low water, the first rise recorded at Ballylahan was on 28th August when the river rose from 0.26 m to a peak of just over 2 m on 3rd September before receding back down to 0.77 m by noon on Sunday 7th September.

Overall, angling activity was observed as being lower than normal.

The weather has been generally mild and mixed with fluctuating temperatures ranging from high teens to low twenties Celsius alongside frequent cloudy skies and scattered showers.

Moy Fishery

Unfortunately, due to elevated water temperatures the Moy Fishery remained closed for angling from midnight 14th August and it reopened at sunrise on 29th of August. Due to high water levels after the fishery reopened, angling activity was low on the fishery.
