Saturday 26th April saw the Ulster Krakens head to Ballycastle Beach for leg 4 of their Master Angler Qualifier. They took to the beach in glorious sunshine and had the wind at their backs for the evening competition, fishing from 4pm to 9pm, 3 hours on the fill, then over the top and back down.

First casts resulted in a few fish being landed and also a few dropped, but there were enough counters coming in in ones and twos to keep things interesting. Unfortunately, the fine weather brought some swimmers to the beach, which didn’t help things for the unfortunate anglers pegged in the swim zone.

Fish came in fits and bursts for the rest of the evening, the most notable of which was a nice 31cm turbot for Stephen Kinning, which almost made up for dropping a double shot earlier in the match… The top angler on the night was Pamela Stewart, whose nine counters gave her 204 points for the win.

Full results on the night were:
1st Pamela Stewart 9 counters 1 under for 204 points
2nd Raymond McCann 7 counters 1 under for 160 points
3rd Neil Boon 6 counters 4 unders for 153 points
4th Ally Nichol 5 counters 2 unders for 122 points
5th Andy McCallion 4 counters 2 unders for 109 points
