West Cork and District SAC fished their latest fixture at Ardmore on Sunday…
Caliso Bay was the original venue for our latest club match but the high winds and weed forced us to change to the sheltered Ardmore and this proved to be a good decision.
The match time was 7 – 11pm and fish showed up from the get go, with most anglers getting a few in the first hour. Going into the second hour quite a few ray had been landed, with the best ray a 72cm thornback from Troy Francis, which also won the pools. Troy followed this up with a treble shot of dogs to give him a commanding lead, leaving the rest of the field playing catch up.
On peg 6, Dave Keating took the round fish pool with an 89cm smoothhound – one of 3 hounds on the night for Dave. Well done Dave.

Going into the last hour of the match Troy added another couple of dogs to finish with a total of 18 fish, giving him a comfortable win. His winning card had 4 ray (Painted/Thornback) and 14 dogs – well done Troy.
Stephen O’Donovan took second place with 13 fish consisting of dogs, huss, gurnards, bass and whiting, while Dave Keating took third place with 9 fish with another mix of species including hounds, dogs, flounder and ray.
Results:
1st – Troy Francis: 18 fish, 982 pts
2nd – Stephen O’Donovan: 13 fish, 599 pts
3rd – Dave Keating: 9 fish, 580 pts
Go fishing…
