Despite a brisk easterly wind, optimism remained high as anglers gathered for the club’s third competition of the year at Ballyhack, (“Down the Rope”). Competitors were welcomed by the unusual sight of sunshine overhead, raising hopes for a productive day on the water. Fishing began at midday, with anglers expecting an early run of fish. However, action was initially slow, with only the occasional catch recorded. As the tide eased, conditions improved and catches became more consistent, with mainly dabs and a handful of flounders landed across the pegs. On peg 1, Leslie Arnold landed an impressive 31cm flounder and looked set to claim the pool prize. However, he was narrowly surpassed by Brendan Butler, who secured the win with a 32cm fish.
The club now looks ahead to its upcoming 3 Day Open in Hook Peninsula. Results as follows: Brendan Butler James Ryan Peter Ondrejack Junior Results Kai Butler Philip Kennedy Ryan Pool Winner Brendan Butler – 35cm flounder
