Charter boat anglers on the Shannon Estuary and around the Clare coast are doing well…

12 May: Lots of fine mackerel about today and also some very nice pollack. A little chilly but the sun shone all day.

13 May: Over the last few days anglers on the Clare Dragoon have been struggling with both the weather and fishing. The water temperatures are well behind this time last year and so is the fishing. We had a good group of fisherman out today and the catch was some Pollack and Coalfish, just a few Mackerel and a nice haddock. Anyway the forecast is giving it picking up a bit and here’s hoping.

Meanwhile up the coast a bit anglers on Lady Gwen II reported conditions to be bit fresher at sea than of late but the sun shone and the rain stayed away and a good day was had by all.

14 May: The Clare Dragoon fished along the shore today. There were lots of birds feeding on big shoals of sand eels and some good Pollack under them. They also had a fine 3lb+ Ballan wrasse.

Lady Gwen II had a family group from Somerset aboard. This lady’s first time fishing, Sean reckon’s she’s hooked.

16 May: A day on the Six Gill mark. And although none showed we did have a couple of Skate to the boat and another 2 on light tackle that we did not master!
