Moy Catchment Angling Report – Week ending 15-06-2025
Michael Murphy reports from Ballina.
Water levels rose only slightly in the Moy this week with readings from Ballylahan on Sunday 8
th showing 0.39 m and rising to 0.66 m by Sunday 15
th June. Weather wise the past week has been wetter than average for most areas. The coming week is likely to be much drier as high pressure gradually builds. There will be occasional spells of light rain or showers, but rainfall amounts will be below 10 mm for most areas.
Update 18 June:
The water temperature on the Moy Fishery in Ballina has exceeded 18C this morning, and with very warm weather forecast over the next few days, anglers are advised of the possible closure of the fishery if water temperatures exceed 20C. Anglers who have fishing booked should contact the fishery before travelling to check it is open.
Moy Fishery
One grilse was caught on the worm weighing 4 lbs and one spring salmon was caught and subsequently released weighing approximately 13 lbs. Both fish were caught on the Ridge Pool.
The angling boat is now available on the Lower beat which comprises of Polnamonagh, Spring Wells and the Ash Tree Pool. Permits can be secured by contacting the Moy Fishery office at 096 21332 or by email at

Ballina Salmon Anglers
Peter reports of two spring salmon weighing 8 lbs and 10 lbs caught on the spinner and worm along with twenty-two grilse all caught on the worm averaging 3.5 lbs in weight.

Mike reports of one salmon caught weighing 9 lbs.
Knockmore Salmon Anglers
Kenneth reports of four salmon caught weighing from 4 lbs to 12 lbs using all permitted methods.
Attymass Angling Club
Kevin reports of three salmon caught for the week using all permitted methods.
Coolcronan Fishery
Nick reports of three salmon caught for the week weighing 3 lbs, 5 lbs and 8 lbs. One was caught spinning and two were caught on the worm.
Byrnes Fishery
Roy reports of six salmon caught on the prawn and the worm with the best weighing 10 lbs.
Armstrong Fishery
George reports of four salmon caught weighing up to 9 lbs.
Gannon’s Fishery
Pat reports in with thirteen salmon being caught of which two were released using all permitted methods.
The Foxford Fishery
Granville reported three salmon caught on the worm and spinning, one spring salmon of 8.5 lbs and two grilse of 4.5 lbs.
Foxford Salmon Anglers
Harry reports of fourteen salmon caught with the prawn and worm proving best methods for the week.
Foxford town
A report of six salmon caught was received and reports of good numbers of fish moving with the grilse arriving.

East Mayo Anglers Association
Kathleen reports of thirty-three salmon being caught using all permitted methods of which six were released. The best weighed in at 13.5 lbs with several over 7 lbs.
