Match 7 for the Ulster Krakens summer league saw them take their annual pilgrimage to Arklow South Beach, always a popular venue for their members. However, forecasts for an east wind somewhat dampened expectations for the thirteen competitors who made the trip down.

The match started slowly, with anglers scratching around for the odd fish here and there. Small gurnards and even a small tope featured in early catches before whiting and a few juvenile hounds made an appearance.

But things never really kicked off, and anglers were left to pick up whatever they could get to make up the numbers. The fish of the match and indeed the only hound of note was landed expertly by Pamela on peg 4, measuring 90cm.

Ally Nicholl made good use of his end peg to land 9 fish, including a couple of dogfish, which were few and far between on the night, to take the win.

Stephen Kinning and David Rainey both had a late run of whiting to take a very credible 2nd and 5th place respectively on a very challenging night.

Final Results were:
1st Ally Nicholl 9 fish
2nd Stephen Kinning 9 fish
3rd Andy McCallion 7 fish
4th Raymond McCann 8 fish
5th David Rainey. 6 fish
