Switch of venue works out for Ulster Krakens

608

The Ulster Krakens SAC was back in action last weekend for the latest round of their Master Angler series. The venue was originally planned to be Cushendun Beach, but on arrival, the conditions were poor and a quick decision was made to switch to Waterfoot Beach, which was in much better order.

The beach was quickly pegged and the 14 anglers got down to business as lines went in at 7.30. The top end of the beach started off fishing very well, with plenty of flats coming in, but weavers were also prolific, necessitating some gentle handling… As low water approached, most anglers began to target dogfish that were lurking a little further out, and they helped fill up the scorecards. At the end of the evening, Ally Nicholl’s haul of 22 counters was just enough to get him over the line as the winner on the night.

Full results as follows:

1st Ally Nicholl 22 counters +5 unders for 704points
2nd Andrew McCallion 21 counters +5 unders for 618 points
3rd Raymond “just lucky” McCann 19 counters +5 unders for 608 points
4th Craig Henderson 20 counters + 4 unders for 557 points
5th Stephen Kinning 17 counters + 5 unders for 483 points
