Moy Catchment Angling Report
Week ending 07-06-2026
Weather conditions across the Moy catchment from 1st to 7th June were unsettled, with periods of rain, showers and breezy to windy conditions, particularly from midweek onwards. This fresh water saw levels at Ballylahan rise from low summer levels at the start of the week to approximately 1.1 m by Sunday 7th June. The rise improved conditions for salmon movement throughout the system and encouraged fresh fish to run, although the changing heights and coloured water at times made fishing more challenging. Overall, the extra water benefited salmon angling, with prawn, worm and fly all producing fish across the catchment.
Anglers took advantage of the fresh water by targeting known lies and running fish, particularly as levels began to rise. Prawn and worm were well suited to the higher and more coloured water, while fly fishing was best suited to clearer spells and steadier water levels. Anglers should continue to monitor river height and clarity before fishing, adjust methods accordingly, and exercise care along banks during rising or fast water.
