The Fanore / Lisdoonvarna Sea Angling Club are in the middle of their “International angling Week” festival which runs until Saturday 10th august – however there will be other smaller competitions on then after that at Ballyreen and Arceen Bay.
The Fanore / Lisdoonvarna have been running competitions for 52 years now and James Linnane (Secretary) says that they are delighted with the sea angling now – James says that the fishing going very well in Fanore in past two days. On Sunday 79 fish were recorded – the biggest of which was 10.6kg conger eel. Other species captured include Pollack, lesser spotted dogfish; bull Huss, Thornback Ray, Blonde Ray, Spotted Ray, Dab, Conger, Wrasse. Yesterday, James says that the Sea angling club recorded 46 fish – the biggest was a 5.4kg Bull Huss ( see attached photo) . James says that the competition has had over 40 anglers per day so far – most with their families – all doing their bit for the local economy !!!!!
The Club are fishing Blackhead tomorrow from 2pm to 7pm and the Weather is promised good.
