In the Cornamona area on Thursday last John Somerville enjoyed a days fishing on Thursday last landing three trout with his best being a pound and a half all daphnia feeders and all sportingly released.
In the Inishmacateer area on Saturday last Father and Son Duo from Carlow Alex and David Bohanna enjoyed a days fishing with Daddies and Sedges producing the goods.
In Galway o Sunday last The Commercial Boat Club hosted The Greaney Cup (Heaviest Fish Competition) which saw 21 anglers participate and landed 15 trout . Winner on the day was Harold O Toole with a fish 4.7Lbs and in the best boat category Noel O Toole and Eugene McCarthy had four fish for 8.35Lbs.
On Saturday last in the Greenfields area Frank Reilly caught four fish two on wets and two on dries with the best fish being two and a half pounds. Ted Wherry (087-4305957) of Mayfly Lodge Ballynalty reports of good fishing in the Ballycurran and Ballynalty areas on Friday last Richard Robinson had excellent sport with fish of 3Llbs & 5.4Lbs being the best taken on dry olives and sedge patterns. Jason James visiting from the UK fished on Wednesday last and landed one fish.
In Oughterard on Sunday last The Hession Cup was hosted by The Oughterard Anglers & Boatman’s Association in which 30 anglers participated and 25 fish were caught on the day Fly fishing and Dapping.

- 2nd Stephen Barry with 3 fish for 4.2kgs.
- 3rd Kenneth Ferguson with 2 fish for 3.5kgs.
Heaviest Fish went to Michael Murray with a fish of 3.17kgs
Staying at Currarevagh House Oughterard http://www.currarevagh.com Kay O Connor had three fish for five pounds Dapping with the best fish three pounds.
Corrib view lodge, www.corribangling.com, reports that fishing has been good during the week on days when weather conditions were favourable. Olives were the best method when winds were light with wet fly being reasonably productive on windy days.Ray Burns and his angling partner Aiden fished Saturday with Larry and boated 4 trout between 1.5lb and 3lb on Dry olives and sedge. Stuart Chapman on holiday from the UK fished with Larry on Sunday and they boated 6 trout between 1.5lb and 5lb 10oz all on dry Olive patterns.
