Declan cooke, IFI Ballina, tells us there were good reports of trout on L. Conn & Cullin last week, despite bright, cool weather which usually results in poor catches…

Paul Caslin & Peter Gray from Castlebar had an excellent day on L. Cullin. They reported 20 trout to the net but only 6 were keepers. In the event all fish were returned. Some of the fish are pictured below and Paul, who is a top class fly-tyer, also included a photo of the most successful fly ( Peter Ross Dabbler).

Also on L. Cullin Brian Joyce and  Declan Coleman from Sligo had 6 trout for 7lbs. Best fish was 2lb on a silver Dabbler

On L. Conn the olives are now hatching in numbers and, Gary & Richard Binley fishing near the Brackwansha shore had 3 trout each AV 1.25lbs using dry olives.

Harry McCaffrey from Ballina had 14 trout but only 3 keepers. He was also fishing at  Brackwansha using dry olives.

Brian Moran & Peter Connolly Kildare, had 4 trout for 6 lbs fishing out of Massbrook, also on dry olive patterns.

The last of the duckfly are still hatching in Bog bay and Cloghans bay. Steven Browne, 3 trout on Epoxy buzzers fishing near Cormorant Rocks

John Walsh from Cloghans had three trout also on buzzers. Best fish, 1.5lbs.
