Plaice
Fishing with lug and crab, Chris and Mike from Worthing had 6 plaice up to 3lbs 9ozs and would have caught more were it not for the codling in the 2 to 4 lb bracket who were eagerly grabbing their baits

A lot of action to report of late as summer slides away and autumn starts to appear.

Stewart and Terry Moore were on their first visit to the Beara and it did not disappoint as they caught pollack, conger, wrasse, huss and the biggest starfish I have ever seen!

Harry Mounsey and brother Mike from Cumbria just cannot stay away. They were here earlier in the year and returned to see if Harry could get amongst the big huss that late season can throw up. Conger to 10 lbs, pollack to 7 lbs and wrasse to 4 lbs were caught but it was almost the last cast of the holiday that Harry finally caught his double figure huss, a fine fish of 10 lbs 2 ozs.

Other first time visitors included Phil and Bob from Edingurgh and Steve and Arthur from Bangor. All found a good variety of fish with huss, pollack, conger, wrasse and doggies making up the bulk of the catches.

More first timers in the shape of Barry and Greg Diaper from Suffolk and every day seemed to bring reports of new Personal Bests with double figure conger and huss featuring strongly. One day they caught 15 huss to 10 lbs 8 ozs. For a full report on their trip and some excellent pictures check out http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606278

Although the weather should be getting colder it is unseasonably warm at the moment, although a little damp, not really raining , just damp.

This did not put off Chris and Mike from Worthing who after catching the almost obligatory 10 lb+ huss and conger went of to see if the winter species had arrived yet. Fishing with lug and crab as bait they found plenty with six plaice up to a fabulous specimen of 3lbs 9ozs and they feel they would have caught more were it not for the 20 odd codling in the 2 to 4 lb bracket who were eagerly grabbing their baits. Add to that a few flounder, dabs, huss and an estimated 30 lb conger lost at the net it was quite a day to remember. Next day on a different mark they once again found plenty of cod to 4lb+, several conger and pollack with fish approaching 8lbs.
