Terry Kelly
Terry Kelly from the Irish bank fly fishing team won Individual gold in the 2011 Home International Bank Fly Fishing Championship

Congratulations to the Irish bank fly fishing team who came a very respectable second in the 2011 Home International Bank Fly Fishing Championship held on Barfinnihy lake, Kenmare Co Kerry. This is the second such competition to be held and is set to grow into a major home nation’s event into the future.

Ireland’s Terry Kelly took the Individual gold on a day that could only be described as extremely difficult. Temperatures dropped into low single figures and with a stiff breeze blowing from the North West the fish were not feeding as good as they had been during the practice days. Nevertheless this didn’t stop the anglers showing off their skills and bagging up on a number of occasions.

Team Scotland took the gold, team Ireland took the Silver, and team England took the bronze leaving team Wales with the “wooden spoon”.

Maurice Willis Chairman Munster Regional Trout Angling Council thanked all the teams and helpers in his address but especially all the sponsors who helped make the event such a success. He also acknowledged Inland Fisheries Ireland for providing the venue and also for sponsoring the event.
