Frank Greene, IFI reports on the Cootehill Angling Festival:

The 32nd Cootehill Angling Festival reached a successful conclusion last Friday 28th Sept. This year 93 anglers fished over five days on local venues including L. Sillan Upper and Lower, Mullanarry, Annaghierin and Bairds Shore.  Despite blustery conditions early in the week that made angling difficult total catch reached 3040kg.  Good individual catches included 21.200kg to Andy Price, 20.850kg to Terry Girdlestone, 20.720kg to Andy Pollard and 20.100kg to Steve Sadler.

The top six were as follows

  • 1st Andy Pollard Gloucester,
  • 2nd Neil Mazaruk Cootehill,
  • 3rd Alan Faulkener Manchester,
  • 4th Tery Girdlestone Gloucester,
  • 5th Steve Sadler Gloucester,
  • 6th David Fairhurst Dublin.

The winning team included Bob Nudd, Baz Smith and Gary Whalley.
