LAUNE SALMON AND TROUT ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION WATERS AND BEAT 3
Angling Report 16th July (Email to Laune Angling Report) (ALSO SEE E-MAIL ATTACHED)
Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.
As of Monday 16th July water now at 2.5 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s and running clear. The Laune is in great condition for all methods of angling.
The week gone by will be remembered by a good few anglers on the Laune as the week when the season kicked off properly. There were no 16 pounders of the week before but a few fish well into double figures were caught of met. Our Chairman Stewart Stephens had the best fish landed for the week at 14 lb. (Fly) Patrick Richard had a 12 pounder

Tony Murphy had a 10 pounder. Matt Murphy had his best week of the season so far with a good few fish from Johnston’s and Beat 3. Sean O’Sullivan had two fish for the week the best a sea-liced fish of 8 lb. caught at Crowley’s.

With the water as nice as it is at the moment and with fresh big fish and grilse running the river prospects are good for the coming week and weekend.
Permits for Laune Anglers waters costs only €25 per day up to the end of July.
Beat 3:
Beat 3 fished really well again last week with a good few fish reported from there caught spinning and on the fly. This writer had a nice fish of about 6 lbs which was damaged on each side probably by a seal attack. Dr James O’Sullivan had his first on the fly this year well down the Beat on Sunday (long-tailed shrimp fly, single hook)
Anglers please note: A ‘One Day’ salmon permit for Beat 3 only costs €25 probably the best value in salmon fishing in the country with a good chance of a fish.
