14/8/12 Straight to the Salmon Fly department, Mr. Michael Mehigan, fishing with his ghillie and Master Fly Fisherman Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught a fine salmon on the fly they also caught a couple of sea trout.  Now too the total sea trout department, Mr. Liam McKnight of Co. Westmeath fishing with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of [email protected] caught 3 juniors on the drift. In the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats and of [email protected] Mr. Kieran O’Keeffe caught 5 Sea Trout on the drift ranging from 2 lb. up to 2.5 lb.

15/8/12 The Waterville Fishery was virtually at a standstill, because of the storm force SE Wind blowing, even though a couple of boats did get out first thing this morning but it wasn’t long before all boats headed for dry land, but at least one angler did see some good action in the sea trout department, Mr. Tom Duggan fishing with his ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught 8 sea trout ranging from Juniors up to 4 lb. and just for the record, anglers couldn’t fish the Inny until this evening, because there was a massive flood coming down the river. Wind as already stated.

16/8/12 Lough Currane was on the quiet side after yesterday’s storm force winds, so we will head across the valley and to the River Inny where there were just a few sea trout caught but nothing that would the RTE news headlines.

17/8/12 Mr. Derek Batchelor of the UK, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com caught one small sea trout, now we head up stream too the upper Lakes and Lough Derriana, Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com fishing with his client caught 2 Juniors and a good few brown trout and his brother Mr. Tom O’Shea and of [email protected] fishing with his client, Mr. Sean Brick also caught 2 Juniors. Wind SE light with the odd light shower this afternoon, mainly bright.

18/8/12 All salmon headlines go to Mr. Christopher O’Sullivan of the UK, who caught a fine grilse on the fly, with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of [email protected]

Now to the sea trout department, Mr. John McCall of South Africa caught a 2 lb. sea trout on the troll with his ghillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Wind SW fresh with reasonable cloud cover.

19/8/12 Straight to the salmon department, Mr. Heinz Stratmann of Germany caught a fine grilse on the troll, while fishing with his ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com Now to the sea trout department, Mr. Terence Wharton Junior caught 2 sea trout, ranging from Junior class up to 3 lb. and his father Mr. Terence Wharton Snr. caught 4 Juniors and staying with the sea trout, the Lough Lein Anglers had their sea trout competition on Lough Currane and as you can see Mr. E. McCarthy was the outright supreme fly Angler.

Now we head upstream too Lough Derriana, Mr. Eddie Blanche and Ivor from Co Laois, caught 25 juniors (small sea trout) with their ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of [email protected] Wind SW fresh and overcast.

20/8/12 Mr. Terence Wharton Snr. and his client caught 3 fine sea trout all in the 2 lb. class and for the rest of we anglers, the least said the soonest mended.
