LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd September 2012 by Lindsey Clarke
Lough Melvin was fairly quiet once again this week with few boats venturing out. There were good quality sonaghan caught but rods had to work for their fish. Saturday was a busy day however with the Lough hosting 2 competitions. These were the Seamus Doherty Memorial Pairs Competition fished out of the Garrison Pier and The Breffni Club’s annual end of season competition fished out of Breffni Pier, Kinlough. There were good sonaghan caught over the day.
26 boats (52 anglers) fished the Seamus Doherty Memorial Competition. The competition was won by Greg White & Gary Stewart with 3 fish. Place second were Joe Deery & Brendan Shallow with 3 fish and in third place was James Deery & boat partner.
21 boats fished the Breffni Club competition. This was won by James Doherty, Garrison with 3 fish. In second place was Brian Bingham with 3 fish and placed third was John Joe Walsh, also with 3 fish.
