Dermot from Rathcon Lake in Co. Wicklow reports:
The fishing has picked up over the past week with the good weather. Klinkhammers have been the most successful fly with an evening rise on just before dark. A black lure with blue tinsel fished deep has also been productive during the day. The water clarity has improved and September and October have always proven to be good fishing months at Rathcon.
Rathcon Lake is an 8.5 acre rainbow trout fishery in West Wicklow. The lake is fly fishing only and open all year round. The average weight is 3lbs with plenty of trout well into double figures. Reservations must be made.
