Mark Carolan of Drogheda Coarse Angling Club reports that on Sunday last the 12th of May eight dedicated anglers took to the banks of the Brothers Lake in Carrickmacross to take part in the third leg of Drogheda Coarse Anglers Club, “Battle on the Boyne,”spring/summer league. This weeks match was ran over five hours which made all the difference to some of the anglers. It was hard to put a direction on the wind today as it seemed to change every fifteen minutes. The wind put a ripple on the water at times but overall the lake was in good condition. Dave Ryan put together a very impressive bag of fish which included a P.B. Bream of 3lb 8oz.
Today’s best weight of 17lb 3oz, was put together by Shane O Reilly. Shane was one of the anglers who made the most of the extra hour, netting most of his fish in this time. He achieved this weight by float fishing the margins into four foot of water with sweetcorn on the hook. A good variety of fish graced the nets today, including, Roach, Skimmers, Hybrids, Eels, Bream, and Tench.
Also in the money today once again was, Mark Carolan with a section win. Well done to all our members who took part today and a big thank you to Peadar O Brian and Kieron Roche for sectioning off the lake for us, and also a big thank you to Tom Cogan for providing a dip tank for our nets.
Our next match will be on Sunday the 26th of May on Lough Barnagrow Co. Monaghan. Tight lines to all.
