Brian Bohan has just returned from his trip with the  Irish team to the European  Coarse Angling Championships  in Serbia. On arriving back in Ireland Brian had one thing on his mind – tench.

As  for the fishing at the moment  with the bright  sunny days  morning  and late evenning are best. The Shannon has being producing  some  fine nets  of bream on prebaited swims, fished  from 2 am until  8 am. The Mudflats in Carrick on Shannon being one of the areas of the upper Shannon  is producing  good roach, hybrids and some bream in the late evenings. As a general rule some of the best places  to fish  during  the daytime in the conditions we have at the moment are very deep water venues, eg under  bridges,  over hanging trees etc  as the fish  are looking for any sort of shade…

While Brian was away his 9  year old daughter Roisin  was busy baiting up a swim every evening for when he got back.  Brian firmly believes that you can’t pre-bait too much and his catch certainly testifies to that…  over 200 lb of tench!
