The secrets of the Shannon are set to unfold on our TV screens in a ground-breaking documentary.

Using slow-motion and underwater cameras, the two-part ‘The Secret Life of the Shannon’ captures rare glimpses of indigenous birds, fish and other animals going about their daily business set among the wild flowers and flora of the 360km river.

The Shannon has always been a source of pride, wonder and inspiration for John Murray, a 49-year-old zoologist-turned-filmmaker and founder of Crossing the Line Films in Co Wicklow.

He and his small crew spent three years filming the river….
