The last session of the Newgrange Winter pike league was fished on a river in Monaghan. 10 anglers took part, with Darragh O’Neill 16lb ahead of nearest rival Glen Finnegan. You would think that it was all over, but Finnegan and Everard had good fish early on and with half the competition gone by O’Neill’s lead was gone with both Finnegan and Everard pushing O’Neill into 3rd with bags of 28 lb and 25 lb on the day late on Darragh got a 7 lber and Glen had a 4 lber the leaderboard was changing all day.

Collie Dwyer had a 8-09oz Jason Campbell had a 8-02oz Darragh O’Neill had a 7-09 and Glen Finnegan with the heaviest fish of 9-04 all in all there was 38 fish caught. After the fishing we went back to Daly’s of Donore where Chef Larry had food ready for us. Coach Brendan O’Reilly totaled up the weights. After the food the Prizes was given out First place trophy and fishing rod went to Darragh O’Neill. The heaviest fish went to Glen Finnegan and the secret weight went to Darragh . Newgrange angling club would like to thank Daly’s of Donore for the food & Wee County trophies and the Boyne Angling Centre for the prizes, till next year Happy Christmas.
