Angling coach Brendan O’Reilly from Duleek, who runs the Newgrange Active Angling initiative ran a league as part of his “Getting Hooked” fishing course. Brendan reports that 10 young anglers caught 26 pike on a recent outing. 3 of the fish were personal bests for the lads, with the fish weighing in at 6-05oz 6-03oz 6-01oz respectively. 10 young anglers fished on the day and caught 26 fish on a lake in Cavan. It was a bright cool day and the fishing started well with 3 of the fish caught in the first half hour. The 1st 6lb fish came to Glen Finnegan from Duleek the 2nd came to Hugh Devlin from Balbriggan. The 3rd fish and winner of the competition was taken by Luke Everard from Duleek.
