Brendan O’Reilly reports that eighteen young anglers from 5 clubs took part in a recent IFI junior qualifier in Ballybay. Among the clubs were Newry, Ardee, Dun-na-ri, Monaghan and Newgrange Active Angling. A total of 21 fish were caught and the heaviest fish of 11lbs 15ozs fell to 13 year old Jamie O’Reilly of Newgrange. A great day was put on by Ardee pikers as they always do. Terry Kane, Ardee youth officer and others had refreshments after the competition while Brendan O’Reilly IFPAC youth development officer did the weigh-in cards. The results were as follows, under 13s 1st Barra Leonard 7-06 Ardee, 2nd Cealaoin Myles 6-08, 3rd Ryan Myles 5-10. The under 18s results were 1st Jamie O’Reilly 20-14 Newgrange, 2nd Glen Finnegan 13-06 Newgrange,  3rd Ashlyn McCabe Newry.
