Colm Lynch from Navan Anglers Association reports that as expected he has had a number of fishing reports after the first weekend on the rivers and lakes with the opening of the Boyne, the Kells Blackwater and the local lakes alike. Starting with the Boyne, Colm reports that the water was very fishable for the time of year and levels are dropping nicely from day to day. There is no confirmation of any fresh fish be taken at this stage but Tony Lyness, Simon Cassidy and a few more club members had numerous spent fish, all of which returned back to the river safely and unharmed. Also, a big thanks is offered to all of the Navan Anglers that took the important trip to Galway to support the campaign against the proposed salmon fish farm that has the potential to cause catastrophic impacts on our salmon stocks. Further reports on salmon runs and catches will be posted as the information becomes available.
