Paul Harris reports on shore fishing for his clients on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork.

The warm weather has certainly got the fish moving with plenty of thornies being reported.

Kev and Sean from the Isle of Wight were on their first visit to the Beara and started off their holiday in fine style with 16 thornbacks to 8lbs in a hectic 3 hour session on the day of their arrival. The fish were still feeding when the two tired and hungry anglers went off in search off food for themselves and a much needed night of sleep. They have since added to their ray total with fish to nearly 11lbs.

On the subject of ray no spotted showing up yet but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

World renowned fly dresser Wendy Gibson and husband Ray are enjoying their second visit to the Beara and when I managed to tear Ray away from his beloved trout and salmon he showed his all round versatility by landing doggies and appropriately enough Ray caught thornback rays.

Pollack are starting to show up in most places now with fish to 9lbs reported and at long last we are starting to see some wrasse caught, never known them to be so late showing up.
