Ken O’Neill reports on the sea angling from the north clare coast…

Lisdoonvarna Fanore SAC held a competition in Ballyreen on Sunday 26th May in which 17 anglers participated in the event. There was a breezy south west wind with us for the day. However, 17 fish were recorded – not a great catch for this time of year in this area – not a single dogfish when normally we should be getting plenty.  Heaviest fish was a Bullhuss weighing 3.4kgs. Other fish included a few Pollack and small conger and the juveniles had some wrasse – we don’t allow the seniors to record wrasse.

One Juvenile had two unusual fish one a member of the scorpion fish family.

Next outing for us is in Blackhead on June 9th – fishing from 1pm to 5pm.  (James Linnane. Fanore/Lisdoonvarna Sea Angling Club – (087) 2215159.)
