Some very big trout were caught at the annual Johny Moran Memorial trout angling competition on Lough Ree on Sunday. Over 60 boats (120 anglers) took part. Longford’s Joe McDermott better known as a pike angler took first prize with a 10lb 8oz fish, second was Tony Doran with 6LB 2oz third Joe Kearney 5lb 8oz fourth Dominic Conway 4lb 15oz and fifth Dermot Mulvihill 4lb 8oz. The winner had 2 other fish one 9lb and a third over 7 lbs but there is only one prize per boat allowed.
