A number of adults and youths had a fun morning fly fishing outing at Glenkeen rainbow fishery in Aughnacloy, Northern Ireland on February 16th. A number of big fish were seen. The youths had a memorable day but no luck on this occasion. Many thanks to Martin Mc Kenna (Drumully) and Enda Fields for helping out. Over the weekend a number of anglers and boats got the new fishing season off to a great start on Emy Lough. Club PRO Enda Fields reports that Emy has started the way it ended last season with a number of well conditioned brown trout netted. Enda, himself had a lovely trout to 2lb on the duck-fly at 1pm Saturday March 2nd. A good number of trout were seen coming to the surface over the weekend and feeding actively on duck-fly patterns in calm waters especially close in, and adjacent to sheltered bay areas.

Well over 1,000 brown trout (a good number to 4 lb in weight) were put into the lake at the end of 2012 season. These fish are eager to feed and will put on a lot of weight during the coming few months.
