Michael Flanagan reports on the fishing at Lough Lene which fished well over the weekend
Yep the Trout season is coming to an end on Lene, and on Monday September 30th it’s all over. Not to worry you can pike and perch fish all winter, on this fantastic Westmeath Lake. Once again Lough Lene has produced some super Brown and Rainbow Trout for local and visiting anglers. Last Sunday in calm bright conditions Cork lads Gary Casey and Alan Murray enjoyed a few hours trolling and fly fishing on Lene. The lads were very impressed with Lene, and Kerrigan’s B&B where they chilled out after the fishing. Gary produced a fine Rainbow weighing 3lbs and a return trip is on the cards for early season 2014.
Chairman’s Pairs competition
This coming Sunday September 29th Lough Lene Angling Association host the Chairman’s Pairs competition. It will be fished from 11am-6pm, start and finish Fagan’s Point. All proceeds from this event to LARCC.
